Britney Spears’ conservatorship wants to bring the Circus to Australia

April 7, 2009 by Sherry

Heads’ up Aussie Britney Spears fans! According to TMZ, Britney’s conservatorship headed to the courts - again, racking up more legal fees - to see about the possibility of taking the Circus tour to Australia!

They’re also hoping to expand the tour to some parts of Europe, although there is nothing official as to which countries would be included. Right now, as things stand, Circus has been circulating through the U.S. and Canada, with a few future dates in London. I guess this means that Britney’s concert is doing extremely well, otherwise they wouldn’t bother.

No decision was reached at this time, but they are due to return to court for more discussion on April 14th, so I’ll let you know!

In other legal matters, TMZ also reports that an Atlanta nightclub is suing a talent agency for promising to bring Britney to the club after her Atlanta show in March, but they never showed. The alleged agency folks charged the club over $15,000 to set the night up, but apparently they aren’t even affiliated with Britney at all and were never able to arrange any bookings in the first place. The agency is being sued for a hundred grand by the club.

That’s nuts! Didn’t they check into this so-called agency first? I know I wouldn’t just hand over $15K to a couple of people who SAY that they can get Britney Spears to the club, you know? Jeez.

Madonna to perform with Britney Spears on March 23rd

March 17, 2009 by Sherry

Madonna Performs at Dodger Stadium

Remember when Britney Spears joined Madonna on stage during Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour?

According to In Touch Weekly, it looks like the favor may be returned because word is out that Madonna may make an appearance during Britney’s tour as well! The rumor is that Madonna will join Brit on stage at some point during her March 23rd show in New York City. According to Britney’s stylist the act will be a mash-up of “Get Together” and “Trouble”.

Madonna was spotted at Britney’s show in New York earlier in the tour as well.

You can bet I’ll be scouring YouTube for video footage if Madonna hops up on stage with Britney!

Britney Spears and her dancers strike out

March 15, 2009 by Sherry

All work and no play could make Britney Spears a very dull girl - so despite the fact that she’s been working her butt off onstage throughout the first leg of her tour, she’s also making sure that she makes time for a bit of relaxation and a lot of fun.

The latest outing, according to her own website was in New Jersey when Britney took a group of her dancers bowling. After they wrapped up the show in Newark at the Prudential Center, they decided to unwind by hitting up a nearby alley. Fun!

It sounds like Britney had a good game too. On Twitter she wrote: “Went bowling with my dancers last night. We had the best time. PS- I got a strike!”

Video footage of Britney Spears in concert in New Orleans

March 5, 2009 by Sherry

I assumed that some people would be posting some video clips of Britney Spears performing live from New Orleans and luckily I was right! For those of us who can’t wait any longer to see Britney on her Circus tour here’s the opening number:

The video opens with some extra footage, things like the advertisement outside the arena and people inside waiting in line, but after the first minute or so it gets into the concert itself and the quality is surprisingly good considering the thousands of screaming fans who were there.

It shows clips from “Circus” and “Piece of Me”, then cuts to fan reactions after the show.

If the short clips aren’t enough to satisfy you, here’s a full-length video clip of Britney Spears performing “Circus” although the quality isn’t quite as strong.

The performances look absolutely amazing - I’m so proud of Britney!

Britney Spears is a Candies Girl

March 3, 2009 by Sherry

Just a day away from launching her huge Circus tour starting in New Orleans, it’s also been announced that Britney Spears is a Candies girl!

Britney Spears has been announced as the new face for Candies, specifically of a clothing line for girls. The photo above and below are from a photoshoot for the company - she looks amazing!

Meanwhile, everything is getting set up for her first concert tomorrow, check out the big promo picture in New Orleans:

I wonder if Britney is nervous - although she’s done a lot of performances since her album was released in December, this is her first big tour in years. I know I’d be freaking out! On behalf of Britney Groupie I wish Britney all the best for her shows!

Britney Spears arrives in New Orleans, ready for Circus tour kick-off

March 2, 2009 by Sherry

With Britney Spears getting ready to kick off her big Circus tour, she has arrived in New Orleans with her entourage - and her boys!

Britney arrived with Sean, Jayden, her father Jamie, and some bodyguards and personnel by tour bus, having driven from Kentwood to New Orleans. Her first concert is in the “Big Easy” tomorrow!

There’s still a lot of debate out there as to whether Britney is really ready for a huge tour but you know, all I keep hearing is that she’s been working extremely hard, taking rehearsals very seriously, and putting everything she’s got into the routines. I think that as long as people are taking care of her and making sure she gets some rest in between shows, Britney will be just fine.

Are you a Britney Groupie reader living in New Orleans? If you’re attending her concert I’d love to hear from you to know how her first show went off!

Britney Spears and Trent Reznor working side-by-side

February 13, 2009 by Sherry

Can you imagine a musical collaboration between Britney Spears and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails? Yeah, no. Me neither.

Voodoo Music Experience

However, despite their extreme musical difference, Britney and Trent have had to learn to get along because they’re currently sharing rehearsal space, each working next door to the other as they prepare for their respective tours.

Trent Reznor wrote the following on his website:

“I can hear the thumping low end of Britney Spears. It’s been a treat having them here the whole time we’ve been here.”

I get the feeling that Trent was being more than a little sarcastic when he wrote it. That said, though, even though they probably each get on the other’s musical nerves during rehearsal time, Britney’s manager has said that the two have been “getting along famously”.

I don’t know why this story makes me giggle so much, but it does!

Britney Spears tour with sons is a go!

February 3, 2009 by Sherry

Whew! Yesterday there was some major concern as to whether Britney Spears would cancel her upcoming Circus tour if her sons Jayden and Sean couldn’t be with her, an arrangement that Britney had made with Kevin Federline.

As I had said, it didn’t make any sense for Kevin’s lawyers to complain and try to stop the arrangement. Luckily it doesn’t appear to be an issue because Britney’s website immediately put up a new post about the stage design, and nonchalantly reassured fans that the tour is still a go:

Britney is so excited to kick off her tour. She has been enjoying every moment of rehearsals and is looking forward to performing in front of a live audience again. Both Sean Preston and Jayden James will, in fact, be joining Britney throughout the duration of her tour. The Circus kicks off in New Orleans on March 3rd.

What a relief! I’m so happy to hear that everything is still going as planned.

In the meantime, check out this little widget that shows the stage layout, designed to look just like an actual three-ring circus.

It looks really great to me, and with the circular design it means that everyone should have a really good view at all times, no matter where you’re sitting. What do you think of the Circus stage design?

Britney Spears to cancel tour if her sons can’t come too

February 2, 2009 by Sherry

If you’ve purchased tickets for one of the upcoming Britney Spears concerts, you may end up having to get a refund. At the moment there are apparent legal complications that may lead Britney to flat-out cancel the tour - every single show. The issue? Her two sons, Jayden and Sean.

According to TMZ, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, along with Brit’s father, Jamie Spears, made an agreement that Jayden James and Sean Preston would accompany her on her tour. They wouldn’t be coming to all her shows, of course, but they would remain in one of three central locations which would allow Britney to travel quickly back and forth between shows and her boys. The three temporary homes would be located in New Jersey, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

On top of that, TMZ reports:

And here’s a fun fact. We’ve learned Britney will pay Kevin in excess of $4,000 a week for each week she’s on tour. The way the deal goes… Brit would get K-Fed his own pad in each of the three bases and he wouldn’t even have to show up to get the money!

Here is the part that I don’t understand - this all comes across as very reasonable. The boys will still see their mother and father as frequently as they do now and they would be in homes, not traveling the country in a tour bus. They don’t lose their mom for weeks or months at a time. And both parents came to a solid and comfortable agreement.

Yet the lawyers who represent Kevin are flipping out over the work that was done behind their backs and are against the entire arrangement. Not only are they trying to prevent the deal, they’re hinting at a custody upheaval. TMZ says:

By the way, Britney now has close to 50/50 custody and the trio has also worked out a long-term agreement, which would extend the arrangement. That too, could be compromised.

Perhaps I’m not legally aware enough, but I don’t get it. Kevin hired the lawyers to work for him, not the other way around. If this is what he wants and it works out well for everyone, then why do they get a say in this at all?

In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that this will all work itself out because one thing is certain - Britney Spears sounds determined to cancel the entire tour if her boys can’t join her. As a fan, I think it would be disappointing. As a mother, I don’t blame her one bit.

What’s your take on all this legal mumbo-jumbo?
