For today’s Friday Flashback I’d like to take you back to the year 2000 at the MTV Awards. Britney Spears hits the stage singing part of “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones before stripping out of her black pantsuit into a revealing and sheer glittery outfit.

From there Britney bursts into “Oops I Did it Again”. I have to say, as much as I’ve been enjoying the video clips from the Circus Tour, her dancing back then was just epic. I always loved watching Britney dance, her choreography is just amazing.

Also, and this may just be a sign that I’m reading and watching way too much Michael Jackson footage lately, you can really see some of his influence on Britney in this performance. The way she’s dressed (especially the hat) at the beginning and the way she dances before stripping down is so very much his style. Amazing how much he affected the big stars of today!

Britney Spears got a second nomination for an VMA award and this time it is Best Pop Video. This nomination comes only a week after MTV announced her nomination for Best Female Video for her song and video Piece Of Me.

In the Best Pop Video category Britney will be running against the Jonas Brothers’ “Burnin Up,” Danity Kane’s “Damaged,” Tokio Hotel’s “Ready, Set, Go!”and Panic at the Disco’s “Nine in the Afternoon”

Both nomination are for the “Piece of Me” video and it looks like a performance would not be too much to ask for. So what do you say? Piece of Me on the VMAs?

Following her Emmy nomination, announced earlier this month, Britney Spears added another nomination to her ever improving year. This time it is MTV’s Teen Choice Award (2008).

Nominations, which were announced yesterday place Britney in the Female Artist category along with Fergie, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.

The neat thing about the Teen Choice is that there aren’t any judges but the fans themselves and regardless of your age you can go here and vote for Britney to help her win.

Britney used to be a nominee every year in the early 2000’s and, personally, I think it is great to see her back. What do you say?

Rumor has it that this Britney Spears sexy video which was shot back in July and as we all know by now is titled Gimme More is to be released to MTV TRL tomorrow (Thursday).

Its been several hours since Britney’s performance and the winds still refuse to calm down following Britney’s so un-Britney-like performance. Two different reasons have been posted so far, one has to do with MTV calling off the big performance at the last minute, and the second has to do with Sarah Silverman.

According to X17:

Brit found out about Sarah Silverman’s crappy line about Britney’s babies just moments before she took the stage to perform “Gimme More.” Needless to say, Britney was PISSED! … as any mom would be. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends, including Sam who was apparently yelling at Sarah backstage) to skip out on it all together). She held up her end of the bargain and got a major slap in the face from Sarah.

BREATHHEAVY posted that according to their sources:

Britney Spears was to perform under the magic of Chris Angel… but MTV freaked out at the last minute finding out what Britney was actually going to do.

Supposidly, what Britney and Chris were planning was to do a set of mirrors and flotation. But when told to the Palms Hotel/Casino… the hotel flipped.

Insurance was the main problem, and the stage couldn’t support the performance. MTV also freaked at the last minute because of their fear of being “too controversial” during the performance. Britney and Chris were infact furious with MTV’s sad excuse and told Britney to change the performance at the last minute.

Britney’s original performance was to infact appear and disappear. To float through the air… and for much mature dancing.

Britney Spears VMA performance - While MTV keeps on having these commercials saying that the MTV VMA will be broad casted “LIVE” at 9pm, the show is already on and Britney had already performed. I know that there are a lot of you out there waiting for Britney Spears MTV VMA performance, so my friend LEORA offered to send me some screencaps from Britney Spears VMA performance. When asked about Britney’s performance in today’s MTV VMA, Kanye West said, “I can’t believe she would perform. She hasn’t had a hit record in years, maybe my money’s not right. Maybe my skin’s not right.”

Kanye has an album coming out this week. D’ya think he is seeking headlines?!?

While some haters still doubt Britney’s appearance at Sunday’s VMA, Britney had already arrived in Las Veags and will be making final rehearsals tomorrow during the day. Britney checked into one of the sky suites at the Palms which on a normal day goes for $25,000/night.

Clad in jeans, a white shirt, floppy hat and sunglasses, Spears touched down in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon with pal Alli Sims and another girlfriend and went straight to the Palms Sky Villa, a luxury suite equipped with pop-up plasma TVs, a rotating bed and views of the Strip. (Sons Sean Preston and Jayden James were spending the weekend in dad Kevin Federline’s care.)

This is going to be huge, guys, I can smell it from my house (about 4 miles from the Palms). Wish I had some passes to go in, but then again, on TV you get the best seatc anyways.

Posting has been a bit slow this week, and I totally spaced the recent Britney Spears - Criss Angel rumors.

Just in case you missed it, here’s a quick rundown:

1. Britney was spotted spending an evening with Criss Angel in Las Vegas on Tuesday night (or was it Wednesday?).
2. Initial rumors called for a possibility of the two working together a performance for the MTV Video Music Awards next month in Las Vegas.
3. Britney and Criss spent more time together along with a long night in an L.A. hotel. This sparked new rumors of a possible romance.
