Britney Spears song originally featured on “Bratz” soundtrack
For all I know this could be old news to a lot of people but I had never heard this before, and considering TMZ just posted it this morning, I assume I’m not the only one.
One of my favorite Britney Spears songs off of “Circus” is “Out From Under”. There’s just something really appealing about it, the soft way she sings it, the high notes, I really love it and would be very happy if it gets released as a single.
It turns out the song is not an original, but rather a cover. “Out From Under” was originally featured on the Bratz movie soundtrack, recorded by singer Joanna Pacitti. The reason that this news has come out now is that Joanna was just shown this week, auditioning for American Idol. She got a gold ticket and will be moving on to the Hollywood round. If she’s already had a song on a motion picture soundtrack (even if it is a kids’ movie), you’d think she wouldn’t need Idol but I guess that just shows how much of a bitch the music industry can be and that anyone can use some extra exposure to become successful.
I’d like to let you listen to both versions.
This is Britney Spears singing “Out From Under” off of the “Circus” album:
I could not find a single video of Joanna Pacitti’s version of “Out From Under” on YouTube. I wouldn’t be surprised if Idol’s legal team stepped in to get them all removed because I keep seeing comments that indicate it used to exist but it’s completely gone. However, TMZ has a brief audio clip which you can hear by clicking here.
I’m torn. Like I said, this is one of my favorites off the album so of course I’m partial to Britney. However, I can’t deny that Joanna has a beautiful voice too. I like both versions, to tell you the truth. I hope Joanna does well on American Idol and meanwhile, I’ll keep listening to Brit’s version of the song!
Which do you prefer?
Listen to the new Britney Spears album
We have just under a week to go before the new Britney Spears album, Circus is released in stores, but if you just can’t bear to wait that long, MTV is streaming the full album on their site right here. While it’s not available to download of course, you can at least sit and enjoy it at your desk for now and preview it before you go buy it on December 2nd.
Overall the songs are all pretty good and I’m definitely enjoying it, but I think my favorite is still “Kill the Lights”. What’s your favorite?

Britney’s New Album Update
Next week’s issue of US Magazine has a short piece about Britney’s upcoming album with insights from Kara DioGuardi who, apparently, has been working with Britney before and after rehab. The piece is titled “Her New Album: Update” and here’s the text:
Rehab had a big effect on Spears’ music. According to songwriter Kara DioGuardi (she cowrote Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man”), who worked with the pop star last fall and again on May 7, “She’s been changing stuff since she’s gone back in the studio.” And DioGuardi is impressed. “She elevates a song with her personality. She always gives great ideas and melodies.” Despite those lip-synced concerts, DioGuardi calls Spears “a really good singer,” and tells US “When she gets in her zone, forget it!”

New Details Abour Britney’s New Album
May 14, 2007 by Gilad
Nate “Danja” Hills, a collaborator who has been working on tracks with Britney Spears on tracks for her new album gave an interview to MTV.com and said “don’t expect any drama and breakdowns in this album but a celebration of womanhood.”
“There was no, ‘I need to let it all out’. She said she deals with that in another way,” he said.
He went on: “She didn’t let none of her personal life into what she was doing,” adding: “She wanted to stay away from being personal.”
On Britney’s work ethic he said:
Despite her personal life heading off on a rocky road subsequently, Danja insisted she was always the professional: “As far as her work ethic, I haven’t seen anybody come in like that.
“Boom, boom, boom, and get it done. So as an artist? She’s ready to go.”
As for the sort of sound the new Britney embraces, Danja said: “Its fun, it’s basic and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s about feeling good, celebrating womanhood. And if you don’t dance to it, I really don’t know what you’re listening to.”

Britney Spears - Baby One More Time Lyrics
January 8, 2007 by Gilad
Oh baby baby, Oh baby baby
Oh baby baby, how was I supposed to know
that something wasn’t right here
Oh baby baby, I shouldn’t have let you go
and now you’re out of sight, yeah
show me how you want it to be
tell me baby cuz I need to know now, oh because
CHORUS
My loneliness is killin me (and I)
I must confess I still believe (still believe)
When I’m not with you I lose my mind
give me a sign, hit me baby one more time!
Oh baby baby, the reason I breathe is you
Boy you’ve got me blinded
Oh pretty baby, there’s nothin that I wouldn’t do
that’s not the way I planned it
Show me how you want it to be
tell me baby cuz I need to know now, oh because
CHORUS
Oh baby baby, how was I supposed to know
Oh pretty baby, I shouldn’t have let you go
I must confess that my loneliness
is killin me now
don’t you know I still believe
that you will be here
and give me a sign, hit me baby one more time
CHORUS
I must confess (my loneliness) that my loneliness
(is killing me) Is killing me now
(I must confess) Don’t you (I still believe) know I still believe
that you will be here (I lose my mind)
And give me a sign…
HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME!
