Britney Spears tells all on MTV’s For the Record

December 1, 2008 by Sherry

Britney Arrives In New York

Last night, Britney Spears was front and center on MTV in her documentary For the Record - did you watch it? I thought it was an incredibly revealing documentary and I feel like we learned so much about her.

Listening to Britney talk about her breakdown was heart-wrenching. Even now she said that sometimes she has good days, sometimes she has bad days - and sometimes “it’s too much”. Specifically, she said:

“[It was] a really bad time in my life. … I’m not gonna sugarcoat it and say I was OK. Maybe I had traumatic stress. I just remember I did not want to be at home. When I was in my car, I was driving and I was going somewhere.”

And now?

“Normal is different for everybody. It could be a lot worse. There are people out there who have it a lot worse than I do. [...] I choose to be a happy person. If I have a bad day, I get angry with myself.”

Britney’s biggest goal with the documentary, she said, was to try to make people see that despite the fame she’s just like everyone else. At the end of the day she’s just someone who happens to love what she does, who loves her babies, and who works her ass off - she just happens to do all those things in front of millions of people on a daily basis.

I’m hoping to have some video footage up later, so stay tuned for that if you missed the full documentary of Britney Spears For the Record. Meanwhile, below the cut there are more photos of Britney arriving in New York after returning from Europe.

Britney Spears - “I always wanted to feel free”

November 18, 2008 by Sherry

Britney Spears was spotted having dinner with a male friend at Sur restaurant in Los Angeles yesterday. No word yet on who the young man, nor do we know yet if he’s truly just a friend or a date. However, despite a dinner out, it turns out that not everything is sunshine and roses for Brit, as revealed in some content that has been leaked from her upcoming MTV documentary.

Britney says there’s no excitement or passion in her life right now, admitting that while she has happy days, she also has bad days. Then she goes on to describe what her life, under the care of her father Jamie Spears, is really like.

“Even when you go to jail you know there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like Groundhog Day every day. I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening. I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free.”

Britney Spears at Sur Restaurant

That’s so sad to read. Britney’s life is better right now, in the sense that I don’t open up my celebrity news every morning wondering if something tragic has happened to her. It sounds overdramatic, but honestly, while she was going through her breakdown at the beginning of this year, I almost expected to hear that she had died and I don’t think that’s too far-fetched. The road she was on was not a safe one and it had so much potential to lead to a horrible end.

I’m glad her family stepped in and helped her when she needed it most. I think it saved her life. But when I look at pictures of her these days, there are so many times that I can see her smiling - but the smile doesn’t quite reach her eyes. Britney still has a long way to go and it seems the next step is for her to be happy again.

I wonder if there’s any way for her father to balance taking care of her while giving her a little more freedom to be herself.

After reading her feelings on her life right now, the video clip of Britney Spears impersonating her father doesn’t have quite the same humor anymore.

What do you think? Will Britney Spears be able to find happiness soon?

Lynne Spears talks about Britney’s major meltdown

September 17, 2008 by Sherry

Since Lynne Spears has her new book to market, wherein she details life with her daughters, Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears and all the turmoil they’ve gone through, she’s doing the talk show circuits. She spoke to The Today Show and went into some of the trauma of watching Britney’s complete breakdown earlier this year.

Other highlights:

On why she wrote the book: “I have sat for hours thinking and thinking about everything that’s happened. It’s been a whirlwind. It’s been a wild ride for everybody. I think there was the tabloid version of our lives. I wanted people to see our family as we really are.”

On getting sucked into fame and fortune: “There’s the honeymoon phase at first. Everything is fabulous. Look at the wonderful trips she gets to go on. Look at the wonderful people she’s meeting. Then there’s the ugly side of things that turns, and we weren’t ready for that, either.”

On being a stage mom: “Britney pushed me, because I was a teacher… In Louisiana I had a preschool for 15 years and then I went into the public school. Of course I tried to be with Britney as much as I could, but when she was 15, 16 years old that’s when Felicia, a very good family friend, she traveled with Britney. I had to stay home, because Jamie Lynn was in school. I had another daughter. Another misconception was that I was always with Britney when I really wasn’t.”

On the 1999 Rolling Stone cover where Britney posed in her bra: “We were in shock at what was going on, and we were in awe. We didn’t have any choice in the pictures. We had no one that could tell us what we were supposed to be doing.”

On her darkest time when Britney was committed to a hospital for psychiatric problems and Jamie Lynn was 16 and pregnant: “It was so crazy at that time. I don’t think anybody was trying to sit and think what was going on. We were praying very hard, because it seemed like we were having no control over anything that was happening. We were trying.”

How Britney Got Her Body Back

August 20, 2008 by Gilad

Britney Spears is, again, on the cover of OK Magazine and this time she explains how she got her banging body back.

“I’m the healthiest I’ve been all my life,” Brit told OK. “My diet has a lot to do with my getting into shape. I have no sugar. I don’t eat fruit or even fruit juice because of the sugar. I eat chicken and salmon and rice. I eat avocados. I’ll have egg whites for breakfast and sometimes turkey burgers for lunch. I try to do just 1,200 calories a day. It may sound like it’s not much, but it’s actually a lot of food if you eat the right things.” In addition, she hit the gym on a regular basis, doing “lots of cardio and weights” five days a week.

Britney Spears on OK Magazine - August ‘08

August 13, 2008 by Gilad

britney spears ok magazine august 08

As mentioned yesterday, Britney Spears gave an exclusive interview and photoshoot for OK Magazine and excerpts from the upcoming issue are already out. Looks like this really was an interview with both Jamie and her and given the fact the he is currently the ‘vision’ behind her recovery, I think that he had some good points to add about her new direction.

On Jamie Lynn Spears’ Teen Pregnancy:
“That was special, but it was also strange because she’s always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit. But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. OK, we’re happy now!”

“She’s going to come out here for the kids’ birthdays. It will be the first time the cousins meet. I’m sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie.”

On Her New Album:
The album will be released in “the next six to nine months. “I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever….I think it is more urban. I’m working with producers who are just amazing. It’s Harvey Mason of The Underdogs is this fresh new energy. “

On Chances of her Continue Acting Again?
“I’d love to, if I can find the right movie. Actually, I have a part that just came up. We’re just trying to work it out with my schedule, with the children.”

“God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good,” Jamie Spears, who has been acting as co-conservator of Britney’s estate since her emotional breakdown earlier this year, told OK! “If this hadn’t happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys.”

“It’s wonderful,” he says of their relationship. “It is new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot.”

“I would hope it stands until the end of the year, and then we’ll sit back and evaluate where we are at that time, where Britney is at that time,” Jamie added.

Britney Spears is Guaranteed a VMA Performance

August 8, 2008 by Gilad

Britney Spears’ nomination for two VMA awards is doing it’s job and we are now guaranteed to see her during the show, at least on a recorded cameo.

According to E!, Britney recorded a piece at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, earlier this week. In it she is featured along with British comedian and co-star of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” Russell Brand.

“It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show,” said a source. “There’s also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in ‘the elephant in the room.’”

Check out two promo photos released today here and here.

Britney Spears Pranked on French TV

March 8, 2008 by Gilad

This is one of the funniest Britney Spears video I’ve seen in a long time. Britney interviewed for French TV for the release of her movie CROSSROADS (ya, it’s been a while), and the reporter was a complete goof. He was so bad that she couldn’t even hold herself from laughing…

Check it out…

Adnan Video Interview, Part 1

January 26, 2008 by Gilad

Adnan Ghalib gave an exclusive interview to ET last week. The lengthy interview was aired in parts this whole week with more scheduled for next week. Adnan was asked about everything from Britney’s relationship with her mother, to her British accent and the future of their relationships. Check out part one below the fold.

In this part Adnan clarifies that he is not being paid for this interview. He mentioned that the two spoke the night before and he has no knowledge of a (rumored) restraining order against him (remember, this was aired Monday). According to Adnan, “people don’t like happy in Hollywood” and therefore made it all up… Adnan added that he does not think anyone wants Britney to be happy.

KFed: “Hands-on Dad and a Very Focused Parent”

August 2, 2007 by Gilad

britney spears cover us magazineThese are the words of Kevin’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, as published in an interview given to US Magazine. Kaplan was interviewed as a part of divorce coverage and mentioned that Kevin believes that the kids should have a “normal life” with structure and consistency. He also commented on Kevin’s satisfaction from the recent judgment and more. Here’s a few highlights from the interview:

On the current 50/50 shared custody agreement:
I think that Kevin would like to have as much custody as he could get because he feels that the children would benefit by that.

On opening the custody agreement:
The judgment could be filed but it might not relate to the current circumstances, it might relate to prior ones, and there’s always an ability to at least apply to the court that you need to change in the interest of the kid.
