Confirmed! - Britney Spears opening the VMAs!

It’s officially confirmed - according to People, an always-reliable source - Britney Spears will definitely be opening the VMAs this weekend! Britney told them:
“MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”
However, a source for MTV has also confirmed that Britney will definitely NOT be doing a musical performance for the show. So, at this point, it’s unclear how exactly she will be opening the show, just that it’s happening. Perhaps she’ll have some sort of dialogue or host a look back on the past 25 years of VMAs.
No one seems to be talking, so it’s all very secretive, which is likely exactly what MTV wants. They know that if people know Britney will be opening the show that they will tune in to watch - the fans to cheer her on, and the haters to see if she messes up. Meanwhile, she is of course still nominated for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”
I can’t wait to see the show to find out what happens!
