Sarah Silverman Comments on her VMA “Britney Jokes”
Sarah Silverman spoke to US Weekly about her “Britney Jokes” in the last VMA awards, jokes which, allegedly, upset Britney to the point where she was not able to perform. Sarah says in the upcoming issue that “The joke that everyone was upset about — me calling the kids `adorable mistakes’ — was the most innocuous joke, it never occurred to me that would be deemed hurtful or over the line.”
She also added “I don’t want to get into feuds with girls half my age. I’m in it to be funny and not for the drama. It’s embarrassing.”
Silverman had made such “upsetting” jokes in the past two public events she performed in, once Paris Hilton was the victim and the other time it was Britney.
Do you think Silverman’s jokes were out of line?

Was that suppose to be an apology for her stupid joke? Does she always like to joke about other people misfortune, their kids and vagina? It time she should know how to zip up her big mouth!

I agree.Sarah is funny but her Britney jokes are mean spirited. At some point these children will be old enough to find reruns of the VMA’s and/or search the web and find hurtful comments like these. This adding to their other difficulties. Its just nasty.

I saw Sarah Silverman last weekend, and someone in the audience asked about that. She said the same thing you quotes her as saying, but she made the VERY good point also, that MTV totally knew what they were doing when they had her - of all people, and especially after the whole Paris thing - go one RIGHT after Britney’s “performance.”
Sarah’s hilarious… it’s funny, because in her act (besides the Q & A at the end) and on her show she doesn’t even talk about celebs at all. She only did it for MTV, tailoring it to what they’re all about.
She rocks…

Yeah it was soooo out of line!
and if she doesn’t want drama then she has to shut his f-ing mouth.
She made an apology like a good girl, saying
-it never occurred to me that would be deemed hurtful or over the line, maybe it’s because you never think bitch why you made an apology? I think it’s because she realise that she is one of the most heated ”comedian” because of her stupid heartless and senseless ”jokes”.
And how she didn’t think that calling Brit’s kids mistakes wouldn’t hurt her?
And I don’t understand why she made a cover for Maxim a few months ago, isn’t that a magazine with hot womens? so WTF is she doing there? right?

She is a comedian and who else can she make fun of besides Paris Hilton and Britney Spears…she is not supposed to apologize…Britney and Paris are the ones who should be apologizing…they are messing up our world!

Yes, her jokes seriously went out of line.
Anel, who care’s is she’s a comedian.. Sometimes you can only make fun of a person to some extent.. she went over the line.
By means she should apologize.
Do you not know the weight placed upon your shoulders of being famous/having fame? Okay, so what if you don’t know. Don’t intimidate others. Treat others how you would like to be treated. It’s simple.

Oh, so you enjoy jokes on vagina and creating drama over other people’s misfortune? Why the embarrassment for, not enough publicity for herself cos’ she couldn’t achieved so much in life when she was 25? The kids were what Britney wanted, since she had already achieved so much in life at such a young age, they were definitely not mistakes!

I think that is one thig to make fun of celebreties and another to pull their children into it. That is what seens over the line toi me.

I think she was riding the gravy train on Britney’s fame and it’s unacceptable to verbally abuse someone in the name of a ‘joke’. It definitely wasn’t funny. In fact, it seems like the entire media organization is attacking Britney. The whole thing has gone beyond the line. It’s become uncomfortable to watch — It feels like we’re all just standing by watching someone being bullied, beaten and laughed at everyday.
Right now Britney’s going through some deeply painful issues like addiction and custody fights. I personally think the world should lay off Britney for a while.

On a place like Britneygroupie.com, you would assume plenty of support for the now fallen teen angel Britney Spears.
Sarah Silverman is a comedian and thus directs her humor and joke at the same way to all, not just Britney. With Britney’s spotlight, comes the attention and negative fame. If she can’t handle the negative publicity like every other celebrity has to, she should not do the VMAS (especially with the horrible job that she did)
Britney needs to take the hits like a big girl, and not cry about it.

I pity Sarah I really do.She is using others to become popular she is really ruining others life. I admit I hate Britney and Paris but she shouldn’t do that it is really out of line.So Sarah please stop doing such things.If you don’t have money we’ll I can give you but don’t use others as your laughing stuff.

This Sarah person is no funny at all - I’ve watched her comments after Britney performance - I’m a mother of a child and it was absolutly disgusting to hear what she said about the kids - What I cannot understand is how can this woman be called a comedian? Are people gone mad if they listen to such “humour”, MTV probably lost its mind or didn’t have enough money to bring quality to the show - the whole show was boring and disappointing ……
